Slide Transition

A "Transition" is the movement or effect that occurs when moving from one slide to the next. Generally, in teaching PowerPoints teachers are encouraged to use a consistent, subtle transition throughout the presentation. Transitions should not be a distraction and in fact they should not even be noticed. Even on television shows and movies noticiable transistions are rarely used.

Recommended transitions are "Fade", "Dissolve" or another subtle choice.

To apply a transition access:
  • Office 2000/2003 and Mac: Slide Show > Slide Transition
  • Office 2007 : Animations > Transition area
  • Office 2010 : Transition Ribbon

  1. Select the slide(s) to be affected.
  2. Select the transition effect desired. Select the desired speed (Slow, Medium or Fast)
  3. Click on the "Apply to All" button to assign the transition to all slides. Or click on "Apply" if available to save settings. Otherwise the settings are saved automatically.
